Rescue the Gobbos!
The nefarious Baron Dante and his Dantini minions are wreaking havoc! They've set about capturing the land's peaceful inhabitants, the Gobbos, and imprisoning them in cages. King Rufus, the ruler of the Gobbos, has managed to escape their clutches and send out an SOS to their only hope: Croc!
Croc is a fearless young crocodile who was raised by the Gobbos. In this game, you will help Croc run, jump and fight his way through 16 perilous levels, collecting keys and gems while putting a stop to the Baron's dastardly plan.
This guide assumes you have already successfully purchased and installed Croc Mobile: Jungle Rumble on your mobile phone. If you encounter problems purchasing or running the game, please contact technical support. Once the game is installed on your phone, it can be run by selecting the Croc Mobile option from the Games or Applications menu (depending on your handset model).
The object of the game is to rescue the Gobbo trapped on each level. You achieve this by guiding Croc around the levels, collecting the key and unlocking the cage on each level. The secondary objective of the game is to collect all of King Rufus's gems. There are nine gems hidden in each level plus another nine gems in each of the two hubs. (There are no gems in the arenas where Croc fights Baron Dante.)
There are two hubs, each of which has entryways to eight levels and one battle arena. (The second hub opens after you complete several levels on the first hub). When Croc frees the Gobbo in a level, the entryway to the next level in the hub opens. Once all the Gobbos in all the levels of a hub have been rescued, the entryway to the battle arena opens, where Croc can fight the Baron himself.
When the game is run, after a brief introduction, the main menu appears. From this menu you can:
When in a hub, you can press the left soft key to pause the game and open the main menu.
When in a level or battle arena, you press the left soft key to pause the game and open the pause menu. From this menu you can:
Use the phone's directional pad/stick or the 1, 3, 7 and 9 keys to move Croc in four directions. Use the directional pad's OK key or the 5 key makes Croc jump in the direction he is currently facing. Use the 0 key to make Croc spin. While Croc is spinning any enemies that touch him will be sent flying. (Don't wait around too long though, as they will eventually fall back to earth and resume their patrols.) Croc can also spin and move or jump, which again sends flying any enemies Croc touches. Also use the 0 key to have Croc to talk to Gobbos and to unlock cages. To do these things, Croc must be standing next to the Gobbo or cage and facing it.
Press the left soft key to pause the game and open the main menu (when in a hub) or the pause menu (when in a level or battle arena).
Use the right soft key to answer Croc's phone. When you hear the phone ring or see the phone icon in the bottom-right corner of the screen, answering the phone displays the conversation. While using the phone, press the left soft key to step through the conversation. Pressing the right soft key ends the conversation. The game pauses while you are using the phone. Phone conversations contain many useful hints that can help Croc.
In this guide, the directions on the keypad correspond to the points of the compass:
3 = North
9 = East
7 = South
1 = West
Answer the phone! When Croc's phone rings, answer it. The Gobbos give you good advice and useful hints.
Avoid water and spikes. If Croc goes into the water or onto the spikes, he loses health. If Croc loses all his health on a level, Croc loses the level. He then reappears back at the hub outside the level's entryway and must do the level again from its start.
Be careful with enemies like Dantinis and snakes. If they touch Croc, Croc loses health. Croc can defeat them by spinning. Remember Croc can spin and move at the same time. Practice this move and you will be well prepared.
Look ahead and think before you jump Croc, especially when jumping onto collapsing platforms.
Use the status icons at the top of the screen to keep track of how many gems Croc has collected and how much health Croc has remaining in the current level, battle arena, or hub. When you go to the main menu or pause menu, the status icons there show how many Gobbos have been rescued and gems collected for the game in total.
You collect gems, keys, and health (hearts) by standing on them. You can have a maximum of five hearts at any one time. You push Big Red Buttons by standing on them.
You can return to completed levels to collect gems you missed. If you do, you will need to complete the level again (by unlocking the cage) to exit the level and take the gems with you.
Everything you may want on a level (the caged Gobbo, crystals, the key, hearts, Big Red Buttons) are always visible somewhere on the level. If you can't find something, make sure you explore the whole level.
There is always a way to get everything on a level. It may not be obvious, and you may need to push buttons to help you. If the direct approach does not work, look for another way to get what you want.
Be very careful when leaping across water or spikes. If you misjudge and Croc lands way out in the water or on the spikes, Croc can lose two health levels (two hearts) while trying to get back to safety. Also, be careful around snakes. Unlike Dantinis which keep marching around, snakes tend to stay in the same area and may get Croc again when he reappears. To get away from the snake, have Croc walk away from the snake. Trying to jump or spin when Croc reappears takes more time and the snake may get Croc again.
Be careful when walking the perimeter wall around a level. It’s hard to get on top of that wall (impossible in most levels), but if Croc falls off the wall into a place with no way out, he is stuck, so look before you leap! If Croc does get stuck, you will have to quit the level and restart it.
Desert Island Risks (Island Level 1)
Watch out for stepping stones. Look at the rocks to see if they are floating on top of the water. If they are, jump straight on and off. Wait too long and the stones will sink, dunking Croc.
Travel south and then east to find where the key is. You cannot get it at first. Go north from the key to get to the Big Red Button. Pushing this button lowers the column the key is on. Get the key, and return to the caged Gobbo at the start. To get to the Gobbo, walk along the rocks sticking up from the green leaves.
To get all the crystals, explore the whole level, including the large rocky area to the west (this has stepping stones leading to it so be careful).
Plan your route across stepping stones carefully. Work out where you need to stop, and where you need to run.
Follow the steps north then follow the path round and down the steps to the jetty. Wait on the end, where the crystal is. After a short while a raft will arrive; walk onto it. Ignore the other raft and wait until you reach the next jetty. Walk north to get off the raft. Continue onto the next jetty, again with a crystal on it. The second raft will only leave you near the jetty, so you will have to jump off. After you have jumped, walk along the jetty and jump south onto the trail of rocks sticking out of the water. Follow them, jump off onto the island and then follow the bridge to get the key.
Follow the trail of rocks back the way you came and then head west. There are more rocks sticking out of the water. Follow these, making sure you do not stop on the floating ones. Try a spin attack on the two Dantinis on the island then walk along the jetty until you reach a raft. Jump off the raft and stand on the Big Red Button. This will activate a raft. Go and jump onto that raft, then ride it to the caged Gobbo. Walk off the raft and rescue the Gobbo.
If you want all the crystals, you will need to ride all the rafts to get to all the islands.
Examine the bridge to the north before you start. You can see that there are four floating bridge sections. These need to collapse to form a bridge to get the Gobbo.
Follow the jetty south, and jump off to get to the small island. Jump off the other side to get the crystal. Follow the jetty south, and then jump off it to reach the square-shaped jetty in the southeast of the map. Follow this large bridge all the way around. Make sure you jump off the collapsing bridge at the end. If not, you will have to go and find another way back onto the big bridge. Follow the bridge round until you get to some steps down. Go down the steps then go south on the bottom step. Jump across and get the key. Then go back on the steps, and jump north off the second one to arrive back at the beginning. Use the new bridge that has been created to reach the rocks. Follow the rocks to free the Gobbo.
Walk along all of the big bridge to get all the crystals.
Before you get on a raft, look to see if you can walk off or if you need to jump off.
Go east from the start then walk across the bridge, which will collapse. Jump out of the pit to get the crystal, then walk south to the square jetty. Spin to get rid of the Dantini. Jump onto the wooden platform to get the crystal. Stand where the crystal was and wait for the raft. Ride the raft across, jump onto the rock to get the crystal and then go and stand on the Big Red Button. Ride the raft to the square of rocks, get off, spin attack the Dantini, then ride the next raft. Jump onto the bridge, let the raft go under it, then jump on and off the raft to get to the island. Follow the jetty off the island to the Big Red Button. The button will drain the top pool into the bottom pool. Go east through the pool and jump onto the now-floating bridge. Walk across the bridge to get the crystal. Stand on the Big Red Button to make the bridge move. Go north and wait for the bridge to come back. Jump on and stand in the middle. The raft will take you to a square island to get the key. Follow the trail of stepping stones (careful, these are tricky ones) to get to the Gobbo.
If you want all the crystals, where the raft goes under the bridge jump onto the stones to get to the crystal between the two stone heads and then catch the raft on the way back.
You can also complete the level without using the collapsing bridge at all. It's hard to find how to do this, so here are some hints: At the start of the level, walk towards the cage, jump down to the path near the water, climb up the rocks next to the wooden bridge you were just on, and head back the way you came. You can now get around the bridge. Once you've gone through the level and pressed the Red Buttons, you need to work you way back to the square wood platform near the center of the level. To get there, try standing behind a green block and jumping up to its top. You can get on the platform from there. Then, go around the circuit of the level again until you get to the cage.
Island Hopping (Island Level 5)
Follow the route of the Dantinis to stay safe.
Follow the bridge down and keep going. The Dantinis are walking a circuit between the islands. Follow them and you will be safe. On the fourth island, there are two other ways off, apart from the bridge back to the first island. The rocks to the east lead to the key. Get the key, then go back to the island and follow the other rocks southwest to a jetty. Wait for the large raft and board it. Go to the south side of the raft to avoid being snagged on the rocks. Ride the raft to island in the southeast. Then walk north from there, jump across the hedges and rocks to get the Gobbo.
Ride the big raft back and forth to get all the crystals.
Practice the jumps on the see-saws at the beginning until you have got the hang of them. Although there is another way round, understanding how they work is essential for the next level.
Jump on the hedges in the water to reach the lift. Ride the lift to the top. Then you have to navigate the see-saw platforms. Jump onto the first platform and wait. The platform you are on will sink down, and the one facing you will move up. Jump onto the raised platform, face south, and then jump off quickly. Repeat this process on the next one, jumping off the high platform to go west. If you fall off, climb on the hedge to get to the bridge instead. Follow the steps down then walk up the steps on the hedge until you are facing a floating wooden bridge. Jump onto the bridge, and run south until you are on solid ground.
Follow the bridge around and run across the next collapsing bridge. If you fall off the first bridge you can follow the path around the low ground instead. Follow the bridge until you reach a large island with hedge walls. Navigate the maze until you reach the southeast of the island, with a rock sticking out. Jump from this rock to the one with a crystal on it. Follow the bridge west. When you come to a gap, wait for a raft to stop in front of you. Jump on and off to reach the other side. Continue until you get to the crystal and face east. Wait for the raft to stop in front of you then jump on and off to get the key. Face east and wait for the raft. Stay on it and it will leave you on the bridge. Follow the bridge back to the large island, and walk north to rescue the Gobbo.
To get all the crystals, use the see-saws and collapsing bridges, and walk on top of the hedges on the large island.
If you see a Dantini coming, SPIN. Plan your route across collapsing bridges before you jump, because if you panic you won't make it.
Travel south to the caged Gobbo, and continue south to the path of rocks off the island. Walk to the rock with the crystal on it and wait. The rock in front of you will rise. Quickly jump on and off to reach the bridge. Follow the bridge round, and then stop on the rock with the heart on. Quickly jump on and off the raised rock to get onto the next bridge. From the bridge, drop down onto the island, and then walk onto the path of rocks in the water to the west. Stop on the rock with the crystal and jump on and off the raised one to get to the floating bridge. When you land on the bridge, quickly go west, then south to the end of the bridge, and walk off the end of the bridge to the east onto the solid rocks.
Follow this bridge until you are next to a square wooden platform to the north. Jump across onto this platform and continue north. Wait on the platform with the crystal on until a raft arrives. Board the raft and stay on it until you see the Big Red Button. Then jump off the raft and stand on the button. Once the steps are raised, jump east onto the raft and go back over the square platforms to the bridge in the south. Then travel east to the corner of the island. You must then walk north along the island. Spin and move as much as possible, as there are a lot of Dantinis. When you get to the top of the island, walk up the new steps to get the key, and drop off the platform to walk west to the Gobbo.
Jump off the raft halfway onto the stepping stones to get the awkward crystal on the island.
Go north, west, south, and then east. The southeast island has two rafts to board.
From the beginning, go north past the first crystal and wait on the end of the jetty. A raft will eventually show up; get on it. When it gets to an obstruction, jump off and then get back on at the other side. When you arrive at the first island, follow the wooden steps up and stand on the Big Red Button. Follow the rock steps south off the island and jump on and off the rock with the crystal on it to get back to the central island. Jump up (getting the heart if you need one), and make your way to the jetty on the west of the large island. Board the raft, and jump off to the east when it's obstructed. Follow the raft and drop north back onto it to get to the next island. Jump off the raft, and walk up the steps on the other side of the island to use the Big Red Button. Jump on the rocks going south to the large island, and head for the jetty in the south. Ride the raft onto the small island, and spin across to the other side, climb the steps and use the Big Red Button to drain the pool. Do not cross over to the large island yet.
Walk back down the steps onto the small island and go back to where you left the raft. Just to the south, you will see a larger raft coming and going. Board the raft, and stay on the north end of it as it passes under the first stone head. When it pauses, walk to the south end of the raft. It will then pass under the second stone head. Be careful, or Croc gets pushed into the water!
Walk south off the raft onto the last small island. Walk up the steps on the other side to get the last Big Red Button. Stand on it, then head east back to the large island. Then, go to the last jetty, in the east. On the way, walk down the stone steps to get the key. Then, from the east jetty, board the raft, and jump onto the rock. Then you get on the last raft, which will take you to the Gobbo.
Walk along every jetty to get all the crystals.
To get all of the crystals in the hub:
Walk north from the beginning up the steps, and jump across to the long platform. Stay in the middle and look for the Baron. He moves from the left, to the middle, to the right and then back to the middle. In each of these positions he moves left and right and then fires a boulder. Wait until he is in front of you and moves left and right. Then, when he fires the boulder, spin. If it hits you as you spin, it will rebound back and hit the Baron. You will fall down backwards and land on the green path behind the platform. Follow this path east then walk south on the rocks back to the wooden platform you started on. Spin and move back to the middle of the platform and walk north up the stairs again. Repeat the process until the Baron is defeated.
Welcome to the Jungle (Jungle Level 1)
Don't walk onto the floating platform until it has stopped moving.
Follow the steps down, then walk back along the stone ledge until you arrive on the sandy ground. Walk south, then east around the line of trees to the bottom of some stone steps. Climb the steps to the top. Walk east along the wooden platform to the edge. Wait until the floating platform is in front of you and walk onto it. Ride the platform across the gap and then walk off the other side. Walk down the steps and then onto the bottom of the green steps. Follow the steps northwest to get the key. Once you have the key, continue west to rescue the Gobbo.
Explore the whole level to find all the crystals.
Spin and move to get rid of the snakes. You may not be able to avoid all of them.
Follow the stone path east until it comes to the bottom of some green steps. Climb up the steps and drop into the hole in the middle. Collect the crystal, and climb the steps west out of the hole. Jump the gap and then stand on the stone platform. When the green platform is stopped in front of you, walk onto it. When it meets the other platform, walk onto that and ride it to the other side. Walk north and then travel east until you see three moving stone platforms. Stand at the edge and wait until all three are lined up together in the middle. Jump quickly on and off the platforms to reach the other side.
Negotiate the maze from south-east to north-west. Some walls are floating above the ground. If they are in your way, wait, and they will move aside. If a Dantini is in range, spin it away. When you are through the maze, you will have to travel along the north edge of the level which is riddled with snakes. Spin and move through them traveling east and then south to get the key. Walk back along the middle of the level toward the three floating stone platforms. Jump across them and go and rescue the Gobbo.
Explore all of the maze to find every crystal.
Like a Teddy Bear (Jungle Level 3)
Keep Spinning!
This level is shaped like a spiral with you starting in the center. From the start, travel east, then south, then west, then north, then east. If you want to get all the crystals, you will have to traverse all the moving platforms you see around you. If not, just keep walking. Spin attack any Dantinis in your way. When you get to the pit of spikes, travel south next to the trees, spinning to get rid of the snakes. At the south edge of the trees, go around them and back up to the north, spinning to take care of the Dantinis. Walk up the ramp, walk along the top of the wall to the end, and then walk south along the top of the trees. Then back onto the next wall. Follow this to the end and jump across to get the key. Rescue the Gobbo and the level is complete.
To get all the crystals here, you will have to jump on the blocks as they come out of the walls. You will also need to walk on top of the trees to the east, and jump between them.
The Great Gateway (Jungle Level 4)
Watch moving platforms to learn their pattern.
Head north until you see an archway. Walk through it and continue to the northwest corner of the level. Here you can climb up onto the wooden walkway. Follow this east until it stops. Wait, and a block will come out of the wall in front of you. Jump quickly on and off to get on the bridge. Jump east again, and follow the stone ledge to get the key. Then walk back and jump onto the bridge. Follow the bridge to the end, and drop off the south end. Walk south again and wait at the edge of the pit of spikes. A floating platform will stop in front of you. Jump onto it and ride it south. Then jump east to get to the Gobbo.
You will have to thoroughly explore the level to find all the crystals. Study the moving platforms until you have worked out their patterns.
Save in the Rainforest (Jungle Level 5)
Hold down the jump key to quickly leap from platform to platform.
Climb up the steps next to you until you reach the Gobbo. Walk west and drop back down to the ground. Follow the bridge that is above you to the northwest corner of the map. From there, follow the west wall south until you come to some trees. Continue south, walking around the trees and beside a pit of spikes. At the end of the pit, spin west through the snakes to the bottom of a large ramp. Walk to the top of the ramp and jump across the gap. Then watch for the stone platforms to come out of the wall. When they are out, hold down jump. Keep jumping until you reach the corner of the level. Then walk east to the end of the bridge. Follow the bridge and it will lead you to the key. Jump across, get the key, jump off again and rescue the Gobbo.
To get all the crystals you will have to jump off the bridge onto the top of a tree, then jump from tree to tree.
Jungle Cradle (Jungle Level 6)
On the moving "cradles," the number of platforms moving on one side will equal the number moving on the other.
As soon as you start, go in a straight line directly west. You will end up on a small platform next to a pit of spikes. Jump across and then head north up the steps. Drop down on to the ledge above the pit, and jump south onto the stone platform. Walk up the ramp and jump north to land next to the two Dantinis. Spin and move past them, heading east through the trees until you reach a stone building with two snakes outside. Spin away the snakes, and climb the blocks when they come out of the wall to reach the top and get the key. Climb the stone steps to head south over the trees back to where you started. Head south and climb up the stone steps. Jump across the moving platforms to get to the other side and rescue the Gobbo.
Ride all the platforms, and jump on top of trees next to the caged Gobbo to get all the crystals.
The Jungle is Massive (Jungle Level 7)
Dantinis can walk on the bridges too, so be careful.
Climb to the top of the stone steps to the east, and ride the moving platforms to the other side. Walk all the way along the bridge to the end, making sure to spin attack the Dantini. From the end, drop off and go north. Climb the steps up onto the ledge and go east, carefully timing your movement to avoid the blocks coming out of the wall. At the end, drop down onto the platform with the crystal on it. To get across the pit below, wait until the platforms stop, then jump and run across and then jump off the other side. Climb up the grassy steps to get the key then walk northwest back to the steps onto the ledge. Climb onto the ledge and go west to the corner. Cross the moving platforms to go south, and follow the ledge to rescue the Gobbo.
Getting all the crystals is easy here. Just make sure you explore the whole level.
The key is to the east. The Gobbo is to the west.
Go south and climb the steps up to the bridge. Then walk north along the bridge until you get to the pit. Let the moving bridge arrive then walk to the center. Let the bridge move around again, then walk east. Climb up the green steps to get to the top of the tower. Watch the movement of the moving platform ahead. Use the two moving platforms to take you north to get the key. When you have the key, walk south back to the pit. Cross to the center, wait until the bridge moves twice and cross to the west. Follow the wall around, spin attack the snakes and climb onto the block in the corner. Use the blocks coming out of the walls to climb to the top of the large stone building and rescue the Gobbo.
Explore all four sections of the map to find all the gems.
To get all of the crystals in the hub:
There are three columns sticking out of the ground. Stand south of the one in the middle, the one with no heart on top. Wait for Baron Dante to fire a cage at you when he is at one of the ends of the platform. (If he is in the middle, wait until he goes to one of the ends.) Be careful! If the cage falls on Croc, Croc loses health. Wait until the cage is hovering over Croc's head. When it wobbles, walk south and wait for it to fall. Once it has fallen, use it to climb to the top of the column.
Baron Dante will now go to the middle of the platform. Wait until the Baron fires another cage. As he does, spin to bounce it back at him. Repeat this process until you have hit him three times, then he will be defeated.
